QUALITY LOCAL SUBARU REPAIR & SERVICE
We can save you up to 10-20% off what Subaru dealerships & other local independent repair shops charge, without sacrificing quality or your Subaru’s warranty. Our warranty coverage on most repairs is 30,000 miles or 30 months, whichever occurs first. Did you know, most dealerships repair and parts replacement warranty is only 12 months. What makes us different. All we do is Subaru’s. Other shops do Toyota’s and Honda’s. We don’t, we strictly do Subaru’s. Because we wanted to only focus on them versus massive profit. If you want to take your Subaru to a shop that the owner is a part of day in and day out, you’ve found it. We care about your Subaru as much as you do and we care about making it last as long as possible. Unfortunately sometimes, that’s going to require investing into it.
Subaru’s newer engine design change is called the FB and FA motors, since changing out from the EJ series motors that they’ve had sense 1990 to 2012. In most models. Some of the Models received the FB motor sooner than the rest, like the Forester and Impreza. The FB and FA motor design is much more intricate and sophisticated than the older EJ motor design. It is very similar to the older EZ30 Subaru 6-cylinder engines.
- 2011-2026 Subaru Forester with a 2.5
- 2012-2026 Subaru Impreza with a 2.0
- 2013-2026 Subaru Crosstrek 2.0l standard and starting in 2021 the optional 2.5
- 2013-2026 Subaru Outback 2.5
- 2013-26 Subaru Legacy 2.5
The FB 2.0L and 2.5L are a complete design change compared to the older EJ style engine design. It is comparable to the older 6-cylinder EJ motors in a way. The FB motors have significantly tighter tolerances and do consume more oil than the EJ’s did. But not by much when you compare the oil change interval difference for this engine and the oil weight. The FB motors are timing chain driven versus a Timing belt and have camshaft sprockets and guides, versus timing belt idler pulleys and non-oil driven cam sprockets (except the turbo and 6-cylinder models). It is very crucial to change the engine oil at more frequent intervals or even sooner than what Subaru recommends. To help prevent tarnish and oil buildup in the motor. In most instances with the older engine design, you were able to get away with a quart low of oil on the EJ motors, but you cannot get away with that on the FB motors. The camshaft sprockets and oil control valves are oil-fed and control the timing of the motor, so if it gets sludge build up or lacks lubrication it can cause them to perform poorly and or even fail.
Does your coolant look like a milkshake? We know why, see our dropdown menu and look under oil leaks.

Six-Star® Head Gaskets
Six-Star® Head gaskets are a multi-layer steel (MLS) head gasket engineered to ensure years of longevity for your Subaru. OE gaskets are only a single layer steel.
We believe so strongly in these gaskets that we exclusively use Six-Star® brand head gaskets on all the Phase 2 EJ2.5 engines we repair. They’ve been around for over a decade and we’ve seen less than a 1% failure rate on them, that 1% excludes outside influences of radiator failures, hose failures etc.
In comparison to the single layer head gaskets your Subaru originally was equipped with, Six-Star® head gaskets are comprised of multiple layers of stainless steel which provide added strength, increased resiliency, and improved corrosion resistance. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated with flouroelastomer rubber-based material (FKM/Viton) to provide a superior seal compared to OEM or other Aftermarket gaskets.
We all know that head gasket failure is one of the biggest headaches you’ll ever run into on your Subaru. We only use Six-Star® gaskets when we perform a head gasket repair because we want it to be the last time you ever have to replace your head gaskets.
We can usually complete head gasket jobs in 1-2 days. This is because we do everything in-house. No more waiting on the machine shop to get your heads resurfaced or rebuilt. None of our competitors do this. Not even the dealerships do this. We have a head milling machine in-house to resurface heads and blocks, and we’ve also invested in tooling to fix valve guides and perform valve jobs. We are trained machinists on top of being fully trained Subaru Technicians. Why do we do this? A lot of machine shops will take off more material than needed when resurfacing your heads, which causes more heat to build up. That is obviously the last thing you would want for a vehicle that is notorious for Head Gasket failure. By doing everything in house we can ensure work is done to our extremely high standards.
